About Me

Ever since I can remember, I have been obsessed with fishing.  I was fortunate enough to have a great dad who shared his love of fishing with me and taught me how to fish at a very young age.  I grew up near Lafayette, Indiana fishing every body of water I could find in that area, primarily bluegill, largemouth, and smallmouth bass.  They provided me with all the challenge and sport I ever wanted as a kid.  At the age of 10, I was introduced to the fly-rod and have become a die-hard fly-fisherman.  I have fished from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico, from the Pacific to the Atlantic.   I have hooked and landed over 100 different species on fly.  My most favorite however is, the smallmouth bass.   Once you hook one, I can almost guarantee, you will understand why.   They just hit, fight, and jump different than any other freshwater or saltwater fish.

I tie all of my own flies and also build fly-rods in the winter months.   Above all, I  am a teacher.  I currently teach 7th and 8th grade science in the Ann Arbor School District and enjoy my summers fishing and guiding.  I am a graduate of the Rivers Outdoor Adventures Guiding School in New Ringgold, PA and have an Inland Waters Passenger Vessel Pilot License for the State of Michigan.

My main goal as a guide, is to provide you with the best possible experience while fishing and show you new things about our sport and so you may learn new techniques that have proven over time to be triggers that can cause fish to eat.  My hope is to share my knowledge and experience with you to make you a better angler.   Even though my passion is fly-fishing, I am equally comfortable with spinning gear.   Whether you are interested in fly gear or conventional gear, I can provide you with an experience and lessons you can take with you for the rest of your life.
